Apple just released its new MacBook to replace the iBook. It only comes in a wide screen 13 inch, but it now comes with an option to get it in black. Hot! Apple has added lots of new extras and upgrades to the technology in this MacBook when compared to the old iBook it replaces. If you are looking for a nice little laptop do yourself a favor and take a look at the new MacBook.

Sony finally announced their Play Station Three release dates and prices. There will be two price points like Microsoft has for their xbox 360, but the cheep PS3 will be $100 more than the most expensive xbox 360 package. The cheep xbox 360 package is called the core package, but by those who game it has been called the retarded package. When you buy everything it would take to get the core to equal the premium package you would spend more than the hundred dollar difference. Now Sony has the same thing in place but unlike xbox 360 it does not look like there is an upgrade path for the cheep PS3 to get the same specs as the more expensive one. The big thing Sony is pushing with this console is the Blu-Ray drive. They are hoping that the PS3 is the trojan for that format like the first PS2 was for DVD. If you ask most gamers their first DVD player was their PS2. It made the higher price for the console easier to swallow as you knew you were getting a DVD player out of it too. From what I have read, you will need the HDMI output to play the HD content for movies. Well on the cheap PS3 there is no HDMI and no way to add it later from what I have seen. You can look at the chart below to see what you will be missing if you don’t spend that extra $100 on your new PS3. The only reason I would ever get one of these things is for the drive to play movies as most of the stand alone players look like they will be $1,000 at the start. The $600 PS3 looks like a quite a deal at that price point.
Now lets move onto looks. Most shots of the new PS3 are from the top. It gives you no idea of size or shape. Well there are some more photos out there now. Have you seen this thing from the side? It looks like it could be a waffle maker or a George Forman grill. Ugly!
For this console release there is so much going against Sony. There are rumors that the xbox 360 will be lowered in price by $100 when the PS3 is released. The graphics on the PS3 don’t look any better than what can be done on the 360. Nintendo’s Wii will probably be half or less as much as the new PS3 and on top of all that there will be a shortage when they finally do sell this holiday season. There will be lots of Xbox 360’s on the shelves at a cheeper price and in this world of I need it now I can see lots of people picking up the 360 when they can’t get their hands on a PS3 for Christmas. Not to mention that 360 will be in their next round of games. Launch games always suck most of the time. Halo and Mario for the N64 are the only stand outs for good launch titles. What Microsoft and Nintendo have coming out this November for games looks really good. Sony is doing everything they can to mess up this launch for their PS3. The only thing they have going for them is a large install base of PS2 users. If it wasn’t for that PS2 install base I think the PS3 would end up like the Dreamcast, dead after a year. The old story is the first one to 10 million units sold wins. Microsoft is already halfway there and will have the other five plus out there to sell this holiday season. Sony says they will have 5 million ready to sell but most experts believe it will be between 1 to 3 million.

If you haven’t noticed gas prices have been going up and up. When I bought my truck back in 99 gas was just a little over a dollar a gallon. It has a thirty five gallon tank. Thats right instead of a forty dollar fill up like when I bought the truck it is close to hundred. Now I actually use my truck for the purpose it was designed for. I pull a boat with it. It goes 4x4 on back country roads for fishing, hiking and mountain biking. Not like most of the SUV you see out there these days that are just big gas sucking cars for people. If I had the means I would get a car that gets better gas millage for when I am not doing the above listed. The way gas prices are getting, the cost to fill my truck is going to be almost a car payment. Okay end of rant. This isn’t a real alternative for me but it is cool. Someone has designed a little engine that fits inside the front wheel of your bicycle. It will hit 20 miles an hour and the big thing is it gets 200 miles to the gallon. I don’t think I could pull the boat with it but if you had short commute to work and didn’t like the idea of getting all sweaty because you had to pedal this may work for you. It will set you back $400 but with just a few trips to work on this and not your SUV you will have it payed off in savings in no time.

Well since I started Google Ad Sense on May third I have made $2.06 off of it. That is actually about two dollars more than I expected. I am going to let it run a bit longer but it sure is interesting how much my website has already made in less than a week considering only about 4 people visit this site regularly. :) I never expected to make anything. To put things into perspective I need just a few more clicks and I can go pick up a drink at Starbucks.

I was wondering just how well Google Adsense worked. I don’t have a real good reason to run it and I am not worried about making money off my personal website. The Google Adsense is supposed to show sale items in relation to what is on the page. I was curious how well it matched stuff on my pages. So yesterday I signed up for an account and turned it on. Well it really sucked at what it showed for each page. In most cases it did not even show any adds. My theory was the ads were based on what Google had indexed. For some reason since I started blogging on this site a month ago Google has not been by to index my site. I think maybe four pages got ads and the rest had nothing so I turned off the ads. Well Google came by for a visit last night. I turned on the ads again this morning and now every page gets something. I am going to leave them on for a while just to see how they progress. The sad thing is, in the rules you are not allowed to click on the links they provide. Some of the stuff that shows up I would like to checkout. That is a big no no according to Google. I guess there is no going back and saying sorry if you do. If Google cans your account because you clicked on your own site ads you are out of luck. The software I am running lets me put in IPs and a message to show instead of the ads so I don’t accidentally do it. I would tell you to click on the ads but that is a no no too. So just marvel at the wonder that is Google Adsense and do with it as you please. As an interesting side note, by having Adsense on your site Google indexes your site. I am going to watch how much it comes back to keep the index up to date.
